This book was about a 16 year old boy named Steven Harmon finds himself on trial for murder after he was acused as acting as a lookout for the men who actually commited the robbery at a drugstore. He had killed the store owner. The whole story was in stevens point of view and of the journal entries he writes to himself as he was facing trial for possibly spending the rest of his life in prison. I choose this picture showing his action that hes doing can change your life, and for what a few hundred buck..... up to me its not worth it not even one penny. Especially a life.

2nd Post for MONSTER

Monster By: Walter Dean Myers

                                     A theme is pressure, This is an important idea presented to people who might read this novel. It presents the reality of the world which is good so kids and even adults know whats to come. Also  that their are people who do bad things out of pleasure or fullishness and they often impact others without them feeling regret or sorrow. The structure of this novel is two fold Steve expresses his thoughts in the format of a journal and in the screenplay he writes. I have a picture of the auther to give him credit for this really good book. He has really made me think about my future and stuff ahead to.

             Overall I give this book a 10 star rating even though I knew what was going to happen because I've seen the movie and the author just makes it enjoyable. Some great qualities about Michael is his strive for success, his personality, and how he is very kind and protective to friends and especially family. I liked how the author used suspense on how right before something exciting was about to happened he extended the details before it so the reader would be engaged and want to read more to find out that exciting moment. I feel like a lot of authors use that technique and I really enjoy that because ill catch myself reading for a hour longer than I meant to.

               I think the author wrote this book because he wanted to show how bad of a situation you can be in and still pull through to make it where you want. Also anyone can achieve as long as they put there heart into it. That's also what I think the author is trying to get out and tell us so we have hope and believe. And when he mentions what wrong and right to do he never shows us what's the wrong thing to do, you can assume that, and he gives us the right thing to do, to help the reader.

               What I have learned by reading tis book and watching this movie is just wanting to change me myself as young adult. Things I do and accomplish now will affect me in the long run. Also I've learned to get things done myself and if you want something you have to put your best work into it. I have also learned to be friendly to everyone I meet because you may never know he could be your boos or something else important like that.

I was interested in picking this book because I saw the movie and I was like why not just read the book just to compare and see if there is more interesting information on Michael Ohers life as a child or growing up years to where he is seating now, successful. For what I know and information I have read and seen on him, he is the guy that everyone didn't know that well but if you did know him as a friend or family he is one of the most caring and thoughtful person. If I went to his school or lived near him I would definitely be friends with him. Not just cause he's a good football player but because of his personality.

       This Blog will be all about my Author. Michael Lewis was born in 1960 and is an American non-fiction author and financial journalist. He has written plenty of other books like: Moneyball, Liars Poker, and the New Thing plus plenty more. I have only read two of his books which were Monyball and The Blind Side, and by far I thought The Bind Side is a way better book and movie I guess its because I like the humor in it. I would like to meet Mr. Lewis because I have not met a famous Author that I know of and if I did I would choose him. Or I would choose Mike Lupica I like him because all of his books are sports books that I know of.

           Text-Self Connection: Tony Had taken Big Mike and Steven to go visit a Christian school. I also had to go visit CHCA and Cincinnati Christian Day because that's where my parents wanted me to go to school. But the difference between me and the story was Big Mike actually ended up going to that high school. Which on the other hand I did not .

 

           Text-World Connection: In the text their were scouts for Big Mike because of how great he was playing and how big he was which was bigger than an average college player while he was still in high school. In todays world scouts look all over the country for great football players to join their program and that's exactly what happened to Big Mike in the text.

 

           Text-Text Connection: In the text it talked about how they needed Big Mikes moms signature and approval for the new family to adopt him so they could be his legal guardian. There was a movie I watched call Presence Of Earthquake I think that was the title and they had adopted and little kid an it was hard to support him after the Earthquake knocked down their farm house. I just think of that movie whenever they mention Michaels mother in the book because he to is adopted. 

 

       

Final Blogging Assessment in English 1B

I Started A new book called The Blind Side By: Michael Lewis. I know most of you have probably have already seen the movie like myself. But I just figured I'd read it to compare while I read. When you first meet Michael in the book he doesn't know very much such as his name or a lot about his Dad. Till, a rich family takes him into their home. Then things change Michael such as a sport called football, and his family that love him. Although he is improving in football however he is not in school! While trying to keep his grades up his playing skills get a lot better. He is a good person to be around and he is really friendly and protective of those who are innocent.So far I can tell it is going to be a great book, just like the movie.

          Some diction I would use to enhance my voice in the paragraph above is  instaed of saying he is a good person, i should say, "an amzaing person...." to exprss how awesome his personality is. For example he puts others before him. An example of syntax is when i say, "although he is improving in football however he is not in school!" To express he needs to do well in school to go far in football or go to a good college so he can get noticed for the NFL. Its good to express those diction and syntax so the reader can get a good picture and understanding of the writers voice.




     Thus far in the year I had a goal of makinig my blogs longer than last tries cause mine were just straight to the point, I wanted to give my new one a lot more detail so the reader can get a great picture of what im trieng to say. Also I dont  want to be known as that one guy who just writes blog.
I want to be that guy who gets featured and remembered for what he wrote.

• "As you are undoubtedly aware, a local effort has sprung up to arm teachers and other school staff members in response to school shootings."  I chose this quote to show the main idea of the article and what it is about.  When the word sprung is used in this sentence it shows diction.  The reason is the author wanted to get the readers attention by using sprung instead of a plain boring word, like come up.  
• I think the style was to inform or to warn others that the school board is considering arming the teachers and school staff.  "Some of these questions came up Wednesday and were answered perfunctorily – teachers would only be taking a shot "at seven or eight paces – they're not going to be in the Olympics, shooting for a 100-yard range," one law enforcement member said."
• Would this be a local or state decision? What kind of weapon will be provided?  How soon will this decision be made?

                                   The awakening opens in the late 1800s in Grand Isle, a summer holiday resort popular with the wealthy people of nearby New Orleans. Edna Pontellier is vacationing with her husband, Leonce, and their two sons at the cottages of Madame Lebrun. Leonce is kind and loving but preoccupied with his work. His frequent business related absences for his domestic life with Edna. Frequently , Edna spends most of her time with her friend Adele Ratignolle, a married persomn who argues alot. Through her relationship with Adele, Edna learns a great deal about freedom of expression. Because Creole women were expected and assumed to be , they could behave in a  and unreserved manner. Exposure to such openness expresses  Edna from her previously behavior and showwed emotions and desires. I abadened this book becuase i want to read something more interesting and makes me want to read more.

                      

Blog#1 Summary 

                                   The novel starts on Grand Isle, a summer retreat for the wealthy French Creoles of New Orleans. Leonce Pontellier, a wealthy New Orleans businessman of forty reads his newspaper outside the Isles main guesthouse. Two birds the pets of the guesthouse’s proprietor, Madame Lebrun, are making a great deal of noise. The parrot repeats phrases in english and French while the mockingbird sings persistently. Hoping to escape the birds disruptive chatter, Leonce retreats into the cottage he has rented. Glancing back at the main building, Leonce notes that the noise emitating from it has increased the farival twins play the piano. Down by the water-oaks his four- and five-year-old sons play under the watchful eye of their one-quarter black nurse. Overall I thought this book was alright i probably will be abandining this book.
