- This column was about whether to arm teachers or not. The column explains the advantages and disadvantages of arming teachers and school staff.
- "As you are undoubtedly aware, a local effort has sprung up to arm teachers and other school staff members in response to school shootings." I chose this quote to show the main idea of the article and what it is about. When the word sprung is used in this sentence it shows diction. The reason is the author wanted to get the readers attention by using sprung instead of a plain boring word, like come up.
- I think the style was to inform or to warn others that the school board is considering arming the teachers and school staff. "Some of these questions came up Wednesday and were answered perfunctorily – teachers would only be taking a shot "at seven or eight paces – they're not going to be in the Olympics, shooting for a 100-yard range," one law enforcement member said."
- Would this be a local or state decision? What kind of weapon will be provided? How soon will this decision be made?
